Building a mini program mall yourself is a shorter process than most people expect. Five steps, and the platform handles most of the administration.
The registration steps
1. Register a public platform account: on the WeChat public platform, choose register now, then select service account.
2. Fill in the registration email and the company information, upload the business licence, and complete the account details.
3. Log in with the registered email and password, then apply for verification. Follow the prompts, submit the information and pay the 300 RMB annual fee. Verification takes roughly one working day, and staff will call to confirm the details.
4. Through a third-party mini program platform, engage a development company to design and build the mall against your requirements.
5. Configure the AppID and the secret key, authorise the release, and publish.
What step four actually involves
Step four is the one with choices in it, and it is worth being clear about what is being bought. A template gets a working mall quickly and cheaply, but the functions are the standard set and the layout is shared with everyone else using that platform. A custom build costs more and takes longer, and what it buys is a mall that matches how the business actually sells — its own product structure, its own member rules, its own way of taking an order.
Either way, the platform steps above are yours to complete. A development company cannot register the account on your behalf, because the entity verification has to come from the company itself, and that is usually the step that holds a project up.
