XZS Tech has compiled five key elements of UI design for you.
The greatest charm of UI design is that you need not only proper technique but an understanding of the relationship between users and the programme. As internet technology develops and spreads, users demand ever more from interface aesthetics and personalised visuals, raising the bar for UI designers, and behind every successful interface lies a great deal of the designer’s effort. So what must a UI designer master to design a successful page?
1. Design principle: simple but not simplistic
A good UI design is, first of all, clear in interface and logic, but clarity alone is far from enough for a good product. Users should feel simplicity: when using a product, first impressions matter enormously, and a simple UI lets users find what they want in the shortest time instead of wandering through clutter. That is why the flattening design style is now the most used approach.
2. Clear interface, clear logic
A clear interface is a rule every UI designer must follow. Vague interfaces with unclear themes never win users over; a blurred UI gives users a chaotic illusion and easily causes experience fatigue. Imagine how users feel about a UI design that forces them to think again and again. The first element of UI design is therefore a mindset of building clear interfaces, applied to actual development; this not only improves user experience but speeds up later development work.
3. Raise the beauty, make users love it
Beautiful things always draw people in, and raising the aesthetic quality is the essential condition for making a product beautiful. The more beautiful, the harder users find it to put down; most female users’ phones, for example, always carry one or two photo-editing apps. “Texture” is the secret weapon of beauty today: adding texture to UI design makes your product more distinctive and more complete.
4. Match users’ familiarity
Matching users’ familiarity does not mean every internet product’s UI should be immutable, but some principles must be observed in UI design. Innovation drives progress, but innovation divorced from users is regression and failure. Familiarity here means not changing well-known operating habits: an underlined word generally means a hyperlink, and you cannot reverse that in design. Technology will keep redefining conventions, but for now these cannot be changed.
5. Keep the overall style consistent
Keeping a consistent style in UI design is entirely thinking from the user’s perspective: only a unified style avoids startling users as they move between pages. A consistent style gives a clear, coherent feel: if a product’s home page is flat design, its column and content pages should be too. Overall consistency covers colour matching, fonts, layout and more, a broad concept that cannot be ignored in UI design.
These are the five key elements of UI design compiled by Shenzhen Xiaozhushou Technology Co., Ltd. (XZS Tech): simple but not simplistic; clear interface and clear logic; interaction and response speed; raised beauty that makes users love the product; matched familiarity; and overall style consistency.
