State Grid Distribution Survey Software

The Distribution Network Survey Software is a mobile survey aid for distribution-network engineering design. Positioning, point selection and photography follow a standard flow, so site surveys are standardised, every point is genuinely reached, and survey and design quality improves.

Project background

Distribution projects are numerous and spread out, and survey records used to be pen, paper and a camera: where a point was, what the road was like, where the crossing was — back in the office it often did not add up, and designers had to wait for the survey material to be sorted before starting preliminary design. Return visits to re-measure were common.

The software’s approach is to move collection onto the phone, so coordinates, photos, voice notes and point relationships take shape on site in one pass.

Core features

01

One-tap positioning

GPS positioning of a survey point with the smartphone app, capturing altitude, longitude and latitude.

02

Quick point selection

Choose the point type quickly and number each survey point, recording cable-pit, transformer, tower and crossing points in detail; the interface is simple and easy to learn.

03

A full site record in image and text

Photograph or voice-note the surroundings, road conditions, transport access and crossings, and mark the characteristics of each point.

04

Survey and preliminary design together

A built-in library of standard designs lets a designer choose equipment and line materials on site, while reviewing the survey data collected.

05

Automatic mapping

Line routing is generated automatically from the parent-child relationships of surveyed points, with spans calculated — what you see is what you get.

Field workflow

Position the point, select and number it, record the surroundings and crossings, choose materials on site, and let the map build itself — all five steps happen on the phone. The working standard is built into the product, so field staff do not have to judge from experience what should be recorded.

Outcome

  • Site surveys follow standard actions, and reaching each point is a matter of record.
  • Coordinates, images and voice notes enter the database together, so the office no longer reconstructs points from memory.
  • Survey and preliminary design finish on the same trip, cutting repeat visits.
