An app is an application installed in smart mobile devices; it can be called the software client of a smartphone or tablet, or an app client. A shopping mall app, simply put, is a third-party application installed on smartphones or tablets for trading goods. An excellent mall app must proceed from the mall’s actual needs while centreing on user experience, ensuring the finished app has good visual effects.
Basic principles of mall app design
The design of a mall app differs greatly from that of traditional computer-platform mall websites: the app must let users operate humanely within the phone’s limited screen space and give users a better experience, so the standards of mall app interface design are especially important.
1. Practicality is the foundation of the app’s use. When designing the mall app interface, combine the target audience and arrange the layout reasonably to achieve beauty and practicality. The function operation area, content display area and navigation control area of the interface structure should be uniformly standardised; elements in the same operation area of different function modules should share one style, so users quickly master operation of different modules and the whole interface stays unified.
2. Colour and style need unity. A mall app has multiple interfaces, and colour and style should stay consistent across the same app. The interface’s overall colour should be close to the overall tone of similar interfaces; a mall app with inconsistent interface style and colours makes users uncomfortable.
3. Sensible colour matching. Colour affects a person’s mood, and different colours produce different psychological feelings; conversely, the colours each person’s psychological state can accept differ too. Only constantly changing things catch attention. Making the mall app’s interface colours more personalised aims to harmonise users’ psychology through colour change and keep users feeling fresh about the app.
4. A standard visual flow. Mobile users’ operating habits are based on the system, so the mall app’s interface operation flow should also follow the system’s standards, so that anyone who can use a phone can use the mall app you designed.
