On 10 December 2020, Pantone, the international colour authority, released its dual Colours of the Year for 2021: Ultimate Gray and Illuminating.
This is the second time Pantone has chosen a dual colour combination since it first did so in 2016.
Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, symbolising optimism and strength, are meant to give everyone a sense of stability and warmth to overcome uncertainty in the new year.
Pantone said the two independent colours highlight how different elements can come together to support one another; it is a combination of widely hoped-for hope that conveys a steadfast sense of happiness.
After the pandemic, we all need to feel that everything is moving in a better direction, and that the spirit has comfort and support; that is the most important element of life, and why these two colours were chosen.
