Before choosing colours, first determine the use and purpose of the design, and once the theme is clear, draw up a “colour plan”. Colour matching means combining two or more colours to produce a new visual effect, but considering only purpose, use and effect is far from enough; you must also weigh functionality and aesthetics, otherwise the scheme does not truly fit the theme. In short, colour matching is not randomly piecing favourite colours together; that rarely achieves a satisfying result. Do not rely on subjective assumptions; analyse systematically to find the colour combination that suits the subject.
